Many people do not know that there were large sub Byzantine Rite communities that were Italians located in Italy
San Cosmo is one of the many communities formed in southern Italy by Albanian Christian refugees in the 15th century, who were seeking to escape the conquest and persecution by the Turkish Muslims

Because they were largely very poor immigrants, especially in the US, they were not able to muster capital for Parishes of their own and the US Bishops gave them no support and were able to continue the tradition of their persecution in denying them a Parish and indult for their Rite through the 19th century and then in the 20th century – Vatican II continued the insistence on Americanizing cultures and so their language and their Liturgical Rite were suppressed
This will be the first time in 50 years that an assembly of these people representing generations of their ancestors will be allowed to officially celebrate their own Rite in their own Liturgical language –
Hence the rare event in Little Italy –

Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary 2015 -Saint Anthony of Padua – Jersey City -NJ
Holy Innocents, NY will have it’s annual Solemn Mass for the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 6:00pm
This important Feast commemorates the anniversary of the decisive and magnificent victory of the combined Christian fleet in 1571 at the Battle of Lepanto, defeating the Muslim fleet off western Greece. This victory is why this Feast was formerly known as the Feast of Our Lady of Victory. It was also due to this victory that St. Pius V (of glorious memory) added the invocation “Help of Christians” to the Litany of Loreto.
